Bihag by Adinda van ’t Klooster

Bihag, 2016

This short animation by Adinda van ‘t Klooster is inspired on part of the Indian raga Bihag, performed by Sudokshina Chatterjee.  Commissioned as part of the Khyal:  Music and Imagination project, the brief was to visualize this performance of the raga.  Ragas within Indian culture are often referred to as having a character and this gave the artist the idea to do a character animation.  Using 3D and 2D animation and handmade drawings as well as computer animation, the artist has come to non-traditional character animation of a creature without eyes:  half-plant, half-human, to visualize the mood of this raga about love. More on the Khyal, Music and Imagination project can be found at the Durham University website.
